RRËNJËT E QIELLIT – The Roots of Heaven by Jeton Kelmendi

THOUGHTS ON JETON KELMENDI

Kelmendi is an extraordinary baptizer of the word and the powerful artistic thought.

Dr. Richard A. Brosio, University of Michigan

Professor Emeritus, USA

The poetry of the Kosovar poet Jeton Kelmendi embodies this kind of expression. On one hand,

he has endured the sorrowful history of his country and family. On the other, he has achieved

significant academic success, enabling him to explore the essence of life, the meaning of love,

and the vision of the future. His love encompasses his homeland, birthplace, relatives, and

friends. His poetry reveals that the Kosovo conflict at the end of the 20th century caused a tur-

moil of war and post-peace reflection, recalling the sorrow of that period.

Prof. Dr. Lee Kuei-shien, Taiwan

Nobel Prize Candidate

Certainly, Jeton Kelmendi is a testament to destiny, rooted in the biography of words, which

is the soul of the poet, a bearer of fate. Yet, there is a tension between him and the external

world—a collision, judgments that the son of Illyria does not shy away from, for whom the

homeland is earthly admiration.

Suren Abrahamyan, Yerevan, Armenia

This poet encapsulates everything within himself so that it is not left to oblivion. For him, for-

getting comes from the outside, not from within.

Poet Heba Essam, Egypt

When reading Jeton Kelmendi’s poetry, one must pay close attention to grasp it, as it is the work

of a master—a leading European poet of our time.

Poet and Literary Critic Rasem Al-Madhoon, Syria

Jeton Kelmendi begins poetry with the power of silence. Reading his work gives the impression

that his poetic universe does not align with our enthusiasm; it cannot be supported by our

preconceptions. The reflection in his swift verses prompts a phenomenological agreement with

his eloquent lines, compelling us to interpret them within ourselves before translating them.

Dr. Saso Ognanovski, Macedonia

The poet Kelmendi impresses with his ability to speak of one thing and then, by the end of the

poem, reveal it to be about something else entirely. This approach pervades his collections,

giving his poetry a distinctive character.

Academic Prof. Dr. Khazal Almajidi, Iraq

Currently, Jeton Kelmendi is the most translated Albanian poet into foreign languages. He

smiles with others’ lips, cries with others’ tears. His poetry seems to address a singular reader, as

if speaking to the world about his time, his experiences, and his beloved since the beginning of

existence or for centuries to come.

Academic Prof. Dr. Nicolae Dabija, MoldovaProfoundly lyrical, Kelmendi’s poetry strives to recreate an epic universe, capturing a time

rediscovered and connected with spiritual yeast, inundated by words. Jeton Kelmendi is a

distinguished European author of our time, whose poetic creativity is complex yet distinctly

stands apart from postmodern intellectualist tendencies. His poetry highlights a robust ethos of

folk traditions, an existential morality, and a transcendence of the Self, creating an imaginary

homeland outside time and an ideal yet melancholic woman, culminating in the Word itself.

Prof. Dr. Dmytro Tchystiak, Kyiv, Ukraine

“Jeton Kelmendi embraces a ‘Direct’ poetry that avoids over-reliance on metaphors or obscure

sources to express its meaning. Perhaps due to his experiences in Kosovo’s struggle against

Serbia at the end of the last century, his poetry ferments a profound sense of humanism and

dignity. In summary, it’s a poetry that requires no erudite decryption or esoteric interpretations—

just read and enjoy.”

Jorge Oscar Bach, Argentina

Jeton Kelmendi is a poet of unending desire, love, and hope. The people and things he cherished

most have been lost, yet his longing for them is so intense that they permeate his dreams.

Craig Czury, USA

Kelmendi’s world of love is filled with symbols. The poet dwells more in the abstract than the

concrete, in space rather than constructed reality. He is a modern Odysseus who explores the

depths of life and love. Kelmendi constantly remembers an immense beauty, expanding and

eternalizing it.

Stanisław Stanik, Poland

On the threshold of his artistic maturity, Jeton Kelmendi has enriched Europe’s poetry—so

often selfish and globalized—with his exquisitely chiseled verse, interrogative meditations on

humanity and the planet, and a celebration of love, emotion, and beauty. These qualities reside

in each of us, waiting for the poet to bring them into the light through words born of his flesh

and blood.

Academic Ion Deaconescu, Romania

It can be said that Jeton Kelmendi’s poetry is one of duality, navigating between two waters: the

self and its double, feelings and rhetoric, reason and its absence, love and war. This linguistic

endeavor seeks to reconcile these oppositions.

Nicole Laurent-Catrice, France

Writer and Translator

While Jeton Kelmendi is distinguished for his prolific and multidimensional artistic creativity,

poetry remains his most cherished discipline. His verse combines authentic poetry with inven-

tive expressions that transmute social events into verbal art, enhanced by the picturesque land-

scapes of Rugova and the mesmerizing echoes of waterfalls cascading from the towering peaks

of the Accursed Mountains.

Prof. Shyqri Nimani, PristinaDr. Jeton Kelmendi’s poetry possesses freshness, sensitivity, and rich creativity, offering a liberating

image of the

indomitable human spirit and resilience. His sensitivity toward love is remarkably extraordinary.

Pramila Khadun, Mauritius

Creativity knows no bounds, no hesitation, and no predetermined reliability. It offers only clarity amidst

existing pessimism. I am thrilled to write my thoughts about Dr. Jeton Kelmendi, a distinguished poet

based in Brussels, Belgium.
